The Power Behind the Programme
The Aboyne programme is recognised as one of the best Highland Games programme magazines. For over 10 years, Craig Nisbet has been the publishing prime mover behind the content and design. The traditions, past games history and articles of interest are underpinned by photographs capturing the friendliness and unique atmosphere of the Aboyne Highland Games.
2020 Virtual Piping Competition
With the cancellation of our 2020 Games, we hosted an online competition this year on 1st August. This involved three categories, the Adult Open March, Open Piobaireachd and Open Strathspey & Reel.
The Traditional Highland Games
Having formed in 1867, Aboyne is regarded as "The Traditional Highland Games". We continue to
attract thousands of visitors to witness the annual display and competition of Scottish culture in one
of the most scenic parts of Aberdeenshire.
On The Day
A warm welcome awaits you annually on the First Saturday of August in the heart of Royal Deeside
in the village of Aboyne.
